You're my favorite

** 1/10/16 Top 3 at Come and Get It Challenges! **

Hi everyone! I'm super excited to be co-hosting with the lovely Barbara Campbell over at Mod Squad Challenge Blog! We have not one, but two sponsors this week - Gina K Designs and One Happy Cut! Our challenge is to create a project using the Ombre technique, so come play with us and create a project in varying shades of any color your heart desires!

I've been playing with the Brusho crystals again and used the color Scarlet with varying amounts of water on watercolor paper to create the ombre background for my project. I started with very light color, gradually darkening it and drying it between the subtle shade changes. When finished, I splattered medium colored water droplets on the piece and blotted them with a paper towel which created a cool splotchy effect seen best on the darkest portion. :)

I turned the ombre background into a pretty shabby chic birthday card featuring two dies from One Happy Cut - the Yvonne Creations Trellis Frame and the Precious Marieke Grass Border. I heavily distressed the edges with a tool and white chalk ink, then added the die cuts which I also hit with the white chalk ink.

I created the bouquet with lots of pretty paper flowers and pearl sprays, added my signature big bow and hit these with the white chalk ink also. The stamped sentiment is layered and popped up on fun foam. I finished the look with some randomly placed pink sequins. I'm really loving this! ;)

I kept the inside simple with a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.

Proud to enter this shabby chic birthday card into the following challenges:

Recipe:
  • Cardstock/Paper: GKD Pure Luxury White cardstock, Cricut Reds & Pinks cardstock, Ranger watercolor paper
  • Stamps: GKD You're My Favorites mini stamp set (front sentiment), GKD Springtime Silhouettes stamp set (inside sentiment)
  • Ink: Ingvild Bolme white chalk ink, Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Dies/Punches: Yvonne Creations Trellis Frame die, Precious Marieke Grass Border die, MB Stitched Circle Layers die, SB Classic Circles die
  • Accessories: Tim Holtz distress tool, assorted WOC paper flowers and pearl sprays, Prairie Bird Boutique pink wrinkled ribbon, MISTI, pink fun foam, Doodlebug Designs pink sequins

I hope you've found a little inspiration to create an ombre project for our challenge this week! Be sure to check out all the fun goodies Gina K Designs and One Happy Cut! Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time! ;)
Scrappy hugs,
Leslie

This is so very pretty! I adore the way you used the white ink and the background die cut is fabulous! You've got quite a talent for arranging those flowers, too. And, of course, your beautiful multi-looped pink bow. The bow sets all of this off wonderfully. I really like what you've created here. Thanks for joining us at Craft-Dee BowZ for our January challenge! Hugs, Gail
